Auto Glass FAQs
Windshield repair or replacement — What's the difference?
For repairs, we apply a small amount of resin to cracks and chips in your windshield and remove lingering air bubbles and moisture for a seamless fix. Windshield replacements involve using special industry-approved tools to remove and replace the entire windshield. We only use Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) quality glass, urethanes and moldings.
Cost. How much will a windshield repair / replace cost me?
It really depends on the damage. A windshield repair costs around $90 with labor on average. Most auto insurance policies will cover chip repair up to 100%. A windshield replacement can vary depending on the year/make/model of the vehicle. Call us today to learn more.
Insurance. But, won't it make my premiums go up?
No. Cracks and chips in your windshield glass are considered “no-fault,” so it won’t impact your insurance.
Time. How long does a repair / replacement take?
Under 1 hour for repairs, usually between 25-30 minutes. Replacements run between 2-3 hours, which includes your safe drive-away time.
Guarantee. What if something breaks AFTER you've fixed it?
Glass Doctor is the ONLY glass replacement company offering a 12 month replacement warranty on your windshield for any road hazard reason. Every star, bulls-eye and scratch is different, and in a some rare cases, our repair work does not take. If not addressed immediately, water and/or small debris can get in the crack and reduce the chance of a successful repair. If the repair does not work, we'll deduct the price of the windshield repair from the cost of the replacement. Just let us know, and we’ll make sure to process your discount.
DIY. Can I just do the repair work myself?
The Auto Glass Replacement Safety Standards (AGRSS) does not recommend do-it-yourself windshield repair or replacements, for your safety. Many Do-It-Yourself Windshield Repair Kits use sub-standard materials with poorly designed application tools and awkward instructions. For the time and effort it takes for a do-it-yourself windshield repair job, you’d be better off leaving it to the pros. Besides, we guarantee our work up to 12 months and, in most cases, is covered by your insurance policy.

Glass Doctor uses the same quality auto glass the auto makers use when they originally built your vehicle. Don't settle for less. Ask for OEM glass.
